Girls’ Hockey: BHS 4, Natick 2
by Joe Walsh
The Braintree high school girl’s varsity hockey team defeated Natick 4-2 on Saturday.
After going two weeks without a win, the Wamps managed to break their unfavorable streak, and they did so in dramatic fashion
Natick started out strong, going on an offensive run that disoriented Braintree’s defense. Natick led Braintree 2-0 by the end of the first period.
Then the Wamps managed to phenomenally change the path of the game. Braintree’s offensive communication improved, and goals by freshmen standout Annie Lee, veteran defenseman Madison Kingston, and consistent scorers Haley Payne and Meg Gilbride put the Wamps ahead 4-2 to win the game.
The win could not have come at a better time for the Wamps, as the playoffs are fast approaching and league standings could still change. Braintree hopes to secure their place in the playoffs this week when they face Walpole on Wednesday 7:00 at the Zapustas Arena in Randolph.
