Thank You Joe Markman

On January 29 I received an email from Joe Markman, informing me that it was his last day working for The Braintree Patch.

I would be remiss if I did not take time on this space to thank Joe for what he did to help BraintreeHighNews.com grow.

Joe was a tremendous resource. Not only did he give us blog space to freely promote our site, he included our posts and updates in his regular emails to readers. Because of Joe’s kindness, over 90% of our traffic was, and still is, directed to us by the Patch.

Joe also gave of his time. He never hesitated to answer an journalistic question that I sent him by email, and he even spent an afternoon sitting with a core group of students talking about what it means to be a journalist. Hearing him talk with passion about what he did was inspiring to them, and it meant a lot to me that he was willing to do it.

Joe had been with Braintree Patch since its inception and worked to make it a real local news website, despite his small staff and budget. I truly believe that his loss will be felt by those of us who appreciated his work.

Joe will continue to cover local news for his own website (http://jmmarkman.com/). We wish him the best and thank him for his help during our infancy.
