School Committe Terminates Superintendent Search

Class of 2016
The school committee has officially terminated the search for a new Braintree Public Schools Superintendent.
After narrowing the search down to two finalists, the school committee voted Thursday to end the search, after determining that the finalists were in fact unfit for the position.
“It seemed the will of the community and this committee is that we did not find a candidate that was fit for Braintree,” Chairman David Ringius said.
The two finalists were Dedham High School principal Ron McCarthy and former Southbridge Superintendent Patricia Gardner. According to Braintree Patch’s Daniel Libon(link patch), McCarthy, has served as Dedham principal for five years and Gardner resigned as Southbridge superintendent due to philosophical differences.
The committee voted without informing Gardner and McCarthy that a termination was being considered. A search for an interim superintendent will begin April 27th, and the committee will resume searches for a permanent replacement next fall
