What is your favorite thing related to math?
I just love the whole civil engineering field. It’s math, but it’s a lot bigger–it’s a lot more ‘how things work’ and ‘how things are put together’.
What is your one pet peeve?
When kids aren’t involved in class and they just sit there.
Is this your first year teaching, or have you already done some teaching?
It’s my second year teaching.
How do you like Braintree High so far?
It’s awesome. I love the whole P.R.I.D.E. aspect they have, everyone’s so involved, and everyone’s big on community.
How does BHS compare to other schools you’ve taught at?
Other schools sort of have a disconnect between academics and art programs. Here, I feel like it’s a lot more woven together; it’s a good atmosphere for the kids.
What’s the best thing about teaching math?
It’s pretty much you’re either right or wrong. There’s different ways you can do problems, and I like to explore the ways you can do them. Math is pretty much ‘it is what it is’.
If you could teach any other subject, what would you teach and why?
Probably History because there’s so much to it, and math is even a big part of history. I remember in college, when I was learning about the history of math, I had no idea people were coming up with the same things on different sides of the planet.
What’s one thing you’d want people to know about you?
I’m an avid sports fan, teacher…and everything in between!
