Interact Club Collecting School Supplies

The Interact Club is holding a school supply drive through May 1. Items being collected include notebooks, small pencil sharpeners, folders, rulers, post-it notes, erasers, scissors, and packages of pens, pencils, crayons, and colored pencils. All items can be dropped off at Ms. Malvey’s room (310).

The club is holding the drive to support Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) District 7950 with a service project that the group intends on holding later in May. Participants at RYLA’s annual weekend gathering will package backpacks with donated supplies such as those from the Interact Club’s drive. The backpacks will then be distributed to underprivileged children.

Donated backpacks will be sponsored by local organizations and the money from those sponsorships will be used as donations to the Children’s Organization of Southeast Asia in Thailand, an organization that uses education to protect children at high-risk of becoming victims of human trafficking and helps to rehabilitate human trafficking survivors.
