ELL Program Offers Assistance to English Language Learners
by Jessica Wong
Braintree is becoming more diverse and now doing more to bring the community together. This includes promoting the English culture and language itself.
The Thayer Library held an event this past week called the ELL (English Language Learners) Family Night with Braintree Public School Teachers for fellow ELL students and their families alike. This is an asset for students who would like extra help outside of school.
ELL is a class in school, similar to taking Spanish or French for a period. During that time, students are given grammar packets and reading questions. Now, the help is extended to families of those students also.
Presently, the event is held every Wednesday from 3-4pm at Hollis Elementary School rather than at Thayer Library and welcomes all ELL students and family members to join their activities and classes.
